Birthwares is owned and operated by John West and Sarah Hilbert-West.    

John is the site administrator and store manager.  Sarah is a registered midwife and a graduate of the University of British Columbia Midwifery Program.  Sarah was previously a Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator and a Breastfeeding Counsellor, trained through the Perinatal Program at Douglas College in Vancouver, Canada.  She also trained as a Post-Partum Depression Support Group Facilitator.  

Sarah and John are passionate advocates for the normalization and simplification of childbirth.  We are working towards the day when all pregnant women have access to midwifery and doula care, community supports, breastfeeding support and excellent childbirth preparation.  Sarah is part Chickasaw and Cherokee Indian, tribes from the southern United States, and has a special interest in Aboriginal midwifery.

Our aim is to offer unique, useful items to aid practitioners in their support of pregnant and laboring women.
